stuff i've been doing

This place is so crazy, it's gonna be so hard going back to never doing anything back in the States. It's been about 3 weeks since I posted last, but it doesn't seem like it. I can't even remember everything that I've done.

I got a new camera (awesome) so I've resumed taking massive amounts of pictures, but it's a shame I missed out on all picture oppotunities for the past month and a half.

The beginning of June was Tessa and Shawwna's birthdays so they were a lot of fun. For Tessa's we had a private party at the Hub in Takadanobaba(nomi and tabe-houdai). Afterwards some people went to the gay club in Shinjuku. Me and few others went to a cool little coffeehouse in 'Baba. The next day we had a party for Shawwna at James' apartment, and let me say one thing, Shawwna is like the best hostess ever. She's like a spunky little Martha Stewart. There was sooo much food. It was grand.

Last weekend Me, Brian, Allen, Sarah, Stephen, and Dawn met Allen's friend from the dorm, Taichi and his friend Akane in Shinjuku to watch the World Cup, but when we got there the bar had a 2000yen cover ($20) so we said no way. Allen insisted that we instead go to the outside bar in ni-chome, the gay district in Shinjuku. I was a bit uncomfortable because I've never really been in a place like that, but it was cool and I had a lot of fun. After a bit Allen, Steve, Dawn, and a very drunk Taichi went to the gay club and left me, Brian, Sarah, and Akane outside the bar. We conbini'ed it up a bit more, posed for pictures with some lovely crossdressers and headed back the station after a while.

Me and Akane talked for a while and hit it off, and wound up planning to go to Tokyo Tower together the following wednesday. I haven't been on a date in like...ever. So it was pretty hard to judge how it went. I had a great time, but it's really hard trying to have real conversations in Japanese. But as Brian would say, I rocked Japanese with her the whole time since she can't really speak much English. She referred to 'next time' a couple times so I'm assuming there will be a second date, so we'll see. She's adorable.

Yesterday, me, Molly, Dawn, Chris, Thally, Aaron, and Steve(merrit) went to Yokohama for the night. We didn't have a hotel reservation so we just walked in the first hotel we saw and asked for a room. It was pretty easy, Yokohama doesn't appear to be the most popular place with tourists so I think there were plenty of rooms. It was a really cool place though. Great atmosphere. There were these old warehouses that I think were storehouses since the Tokugawa or Meiji era, and they were converted into a mall-like thing and an art gallery. The place was really high class, we saw a fantastic jazz concert there for free(although our drinks were $9 each). Walked around Yokohama a bit took lotsa pictures. After the concert, we meet the Dawn, Chris and Thally in the mall across from our hotel conbini'ed it up and went back to the room to nomu and and watch the World Cup. The beds were pretty small (two twins, definately not big enough for nana) but we still managed three in a twin, although certainly not comfortably(there's a reason they call them twin beds), but it was fun nonetheless. Dawn (or was it Molly?) was the big spoon LOL.

The next day we got up, collected our crap and got out. We went back to the warehouses for breakfast/lunch and I had the best hamburger I've had in a long time, Japan or otherwise. Then we went to Chinatown. It was definatly the cleanest Chinatown I've ever been to. They had nikuman the size of my head. They had so many kinds and they all looked sooooooo good, but I was still really full from lunch. But I did get some tangerine boba juice and it was yummy. Later the others went to a restaurant and got CRAZY delicous mango coconut boba juice, I mooched off of them cuz I was off elsewhere while they got them (plus I spent almost all my money already), but it was seriously sooooooooo good. Everyone had to go back home pretty early so after that we all went back home.

And that's where I'm at for now. The rest of the weekend is gonna suck, I've got a lot of work to do, but maybe I'll be able to get it out of the way(unlikely :/)
